Zillow senior SDE here! I’ve been working with AI this las couple of months and this is what I’ve learned:
-You can deliver really fast integrations/features, but you have to get enough clarity and granularity over all your tasks (is not as simple as saying chatgpt to build an entire app).
-As a software engineer you have to get deeper knowledge about the language you’re working and get a good understanding of architecture and design patterns. It helps a lot if you know about SOLID or DRY as well.
-If pull requests/merge requests are not being made correctly, you will add trash on the main branch…. You need a high level team to handle this.
-AI will not replace all people, AI will be integreated as a tool for us as devs! We have to manage AI as a Jr dev to deliver good quality code.
