Why would you not be able to insert the same human creativity and dedication into whatever goes into using ai as a tool for art? You're not limited to writing a short prompt on one image generator and calling it crap because you see the pixels, there's a lot of options it opens up. You mentioned you used the fill bucket, and I agree that a simple click to fill has a lot less character than the area you filled with your traditional 'material', but that's why you learn to use the tool. Just like with pencil drawing there are people who are good at using ai, inserting it into their workflow and mix different art mediums, and those who insta generate an image and post it on social media. There will be a lot of crap, but there will also be so much more incredible stuff. And everything will keep changing, ai is a development, poisoning is a development. None of these things are anywhere close to where they will settle. Wherever that may be, stuff will keep changing and like you we just need to keep fighting to guide that change in the right direction.
