I think a lot of these predictions overestimate both IT's ability to actually implement and safely scale AI across the real world. For AI to "take over," it must first be deeply integrated into production environments—most of which are much less modern or robust than people assume. In reality, many companies and even military or critical systems still rely on outdated infrastructure and deliberately slow processes for safety and security.
If we want to talk seriously about global job displacement or technological change, we can't just focus on what's technically possible. We have to factor in real sources of friction like politics, culture, infrastructure, and the economy—these heavily influence how and when technology is actually adopted. Tech capability doesn't automatically mean immediate, sweeping impact.
So while the potential is huge, these narratives often miss just how complex and uneven real-world adoption is. Any claim about "the whole world" changing overnight needs to address all the barriers and delays that exist beyond the lab or boardroom. Otherwise, it's more of a theoretical scenario than a practical forecast.
