So people really think that a city with over fifty thousand over medicated, underslept, malnourished, uncoordinated human drivers on the road at any given time, is safer to drive in than one consisting of finely tuned, highly advanced non human drivers, running on meticulous and precisely written algorithms with a multitude of cameras and sensors scanning the environment from every angle simultaneously?
Machines are created by humans, so they are imperfect and susceptible to malfunctions, but not nearly as imperfect as humans themselves. No human being could ever compete with a machine when it comes to sheer computational abilities. The speed at which these processors operate is on a level that most people can't understand. This results in vastly superior sensory and reaction time over humans by a million fold.
These driverless cars are going to save thousands of lives a year, but people aren't willing to give up killing 17000 of themselves in place of allowing a machine to kill less than a tenth of that number... apparently humans dont like competition when it comes to murder..
