Your argument about stealing/inspiration is spot on but I would like to add, the AI making the art is the definition of plagiarism. It's not looking at a few pictures of mountains then making it's own landscape- most AI literally cut out parts of that picture, slap it onto something "new," and make everything match the same style. I read this one article that our "AI" nowadays isn't actually A.I. Artificial INTELLEGENCE must be able to learn, all AI is doing is storing the information. For those who don't know, storing information for later is NOT LEARNING. Edit: I still don't think it fits the definition of learning, but for the sake of argument I'd even throw in it doesn't fit artificial either. Artificial is "made or created by humans, rather than being natural." The humans creating the AI are very likely not the same humans that are posting the AI- so even though it's still "artificial" The art is not the AI creators' it's the artist, and from what I've seen the artist that AI is stealing from are NOT the same people using the AI to generate art. And it's not like the AI are posting it's sources anywhere. So... at least not a FAIR exchange.
