ConversationalAI (ChatGPT is the best known one) can be built with a vast embedded database. If that embedded database contained all of the cases in the federal register, you could be sure that any reference was a real reference and almost certainly provided useful information regarding the case you provided. My team is about to start working on just this very thing at work. That being said, you shouldn't trust the results any more than you would trust the results from a first year paralegal. If you are signing your name to it, you need to validate the veracity of that which is being stated.
