These driverless trucks will never be allowed in our lifetimes in all states. No way. Even if they were , they’d be long range only. They can’t do city work. Zero chance. There’s way to many variables where you as the driver must make decisions outside of road barriers . Like overtaking on coming lanes to make tight turns & jack knifing into tight spaces. The trucks won’t unload their loads by themselves & I’m not talking about at the local Sam’s club or grocery store. I’m talking home deliveries liftgate deliveries. Fuel lines hooked up & then put back. Sorting & segregation of freight. I know every so often I’ll see one of these videos. I gets everyone in an uproar. But they’ve been talking about these for decades now. They’ve also hidden data & covered up crashes. And it’s always a human factor according to the bean counters. The weather, refueling , DOT pre & post checks I guess who needs those lol. A well trained or good driver especially in heavy city traffic can avoid accidents by spotting situations well ahead or behind them. These AI driverless vehicles are nothing more than pipe dreams. Dreams built on the need to keep lowering the price of daily products & since EVERYTHING moves in some capacity via trucks . This is the way. The first go around they just Deregulated the industry. Now since they did that & eroded the industry’s reputation & taken drivers pay & quality of life & 💩 on it. Now they’re at it again. Lol Stole our pension money to build Vegas & line pockets for themselves & special interests. Now they’re going after the industry as a whole. What’s troubling is their lack of transparency and accountability. Their overall strategy is lacking depth. What’s gonna happen when the largest single industry is cut in half? Where’s that revenue from tax payers money gonna then come from? They haven’t thought this through. Then there’s entire industries built around that industry that’ll also die. Snowball will cause a serious recession. This is why I believe bureaucrats & smarter people will prevail & thwart this disaster before it starts. And again it’s not like it’s without flaws beyond that. Driverless cars have killed pedestrians & if you think 🤔 that’s bad wait till the trucks get hacked or have some issues. But ah yes that’s why the safety drivers there. To do nothing but monitor the truck for hundreds of miles to act with cat like reflexes. lol yeah that’ll work. They’ll be asleep 😴 & it will be ugly. Good luck 🍀 to everyone involved & everyone impacted and all that willl be unknowingly affected by this & have these unmanned death machines driving next to or behind them without any idea. Until it malfunctions & slams into the back of a group of cars stopped for whatever. And it will happen just a matter of when. But billionaires & share holders don’t care. It’s just collateral damage. And will rationalize it.
