To the producers of these reports: please stop saying that AI or robots or any other technology is going to take away peoples’ jobs. Companies and the people who control them are going to take away peoples’ jobs. By making it about the technology, it frames the battle as being between human workers and the tools of progress. This gives the whole thing a sense of inevitability. The real battle is between workers who want stable, fair, and safe employment versus an ultra-wealthy class of investors who are trying to take exclusive control of massive industries by circumventing regulations. Those investors are trying to make you believe that the technology is simply doing what it does - not true. These technologies (AI or any other form of automation) are doing what their developers are designing them to do - accumulate power and control for a very small number of people. We are paying for this development through tax credits and incentives, through government funding, and publicly-funded research that gets incorporated into and patented by private enterprise.
