I don’t understand the hate. It’s a tool and it’s pretty damn cool. Here’s why I don’t think it’s bad, change my mind: 1.) It is able to quickly generate decently looking art. That kind of thing can be used everywhere and make our world more pretty. Need a bookcover? Concept art? Ideas for interior design? Inspiration for a new art style? There you go. 2.) People say it’s soulless and that art is something distinctly human, and yet computers have consistently managed to outperform humans as they have developed, people used to say that computers would never be better than humans at playing chess, and when they could people said they would never be able to play go. 3.) I hear people say that AI art is theft, and yet I wonder how different it is from the human experience. Don’t we also just learn and copy what we see? Moreover think about who would benefit over laws preventing art being used to train ai. Individuals or large corporations? One who can hire teams of artists to “legally” train AI their own dataset. Or the person who just wants to make a cover for their indie game, novel, or hobby? This, compounded with the fact that any art a single person makes is a drop in the vast sea of artwork on the digital ocean we call the internet. 4.) Finally, I hear people say this will cause people to lose jobs. I agree. However I believe more will be created because ultimately it takes time and effort to make something special, and I don’t think ai can be relied on completely yet. The content it creates needs human moderation and editing. I agree the animation in the first clip seemed to have something missing. Thats why you need people to touch it up. Ai can provide a springboard for your ideas to fly, isn’t that good? P.S: To the people who say ai content is racist or sexist, it all comes down to the dataset you train it on. If it’s like that, there’s a high chance it was trained on bad data. P.S.S- I can’t think of many more reasons against ai I’ve heard. I’ll try to respond if I see any constructive criticism but currently I feel saddened that such an incredible technology is being slammed because people are scared of it.
