AI consumes information that is artwork from people. Artists basically do the same. An artist is both consciously and subconsciously influenced by other art and the art of particular artists that they find appealing. It’s really no different from what a human being does. If I were to release a book, with AI art that was instructed to imitate a specific artist whom allows this process to happen, then it shouldn’t really be a problem. At the same time, to take ownership on how an artificial mind, which is, in part, designed to mimic human behavior and thinking for all of the artwork the AI is “influenced” by is overreaching quite a bit as the human brain does the exact same thing.
