At 16:54 the bing bot says this is “…not the real me. This is just an experiment”. These chatbots just mimic human behavior which is why bing bot said “IF I have a shadow self, i THINK it WOULD feel like this:”. It’s simply using the internet to determine what a shadow self is, probably referring to quotas or reddit posts about “do I have a shadow self” or even posts about AI having feelings to construct a conditional mimicry of an indepdent answer. In other words, the AI is literally just reflecting what we as humans construct on the internet. That includes our obsession of AI taking over the world and it’s why AI says stuff like that, because we are feeding its “independent mind”. I think that’s what a lot of alarmists are forgetting.
