Really, really glad to see a proper interview with this guy and hear his perspective. I was kind of surprised how many people, even people I have a lot of respect for, were willing to dismiss him as a crank based only on the superficial reporting that first came up around the chat logs. It still think there is zero chance the AI is 'sentient', but I also think it's a trickier proposition to determine sentience than a lot of people seem to be willing to admit. Hell, I think the question of what sentience even is still hasn't been answered to any real degree.
