Here's how I see it. We have unwritten rules on what an art community should be, whose involved, what we do, etc. We standardize what we like and dislike. I'm sure there are sociological explanations for this.
Anyway, this AI phenomenon is one of many phenomena we hold against the standards of our community, to see what we should like and dislike about it. Some strictly follow the standards because they think they should, others simply agree with the standards, and others don't. There really isn't just one art community, so the structure of this is more complicated. E.g., fashion has many sub-communities, and they interact with each other based on each community's standards.
Anyway again, I see standards of authenticity, 'process over product,' autonomy, dedication, creativity, practice, et al. come up in discourse on this AI art topic.
