The bullets were probably subsonic hand loads, extra quiet, but they stopped easily when they hit bone and did less damage. I don't think this mother will ever get justice in this case; the AI companies are just too rich and powerful. Heck, they are connected with the government and military on a high-priority level due to the technology race with the Chinese Communist Party.
