Adam lucidpixel posted a similar video recently and somewhere in the comment section I replied to someone and considered the fact that a five star restaurant and fast food restaurants can coexist and make a living with despite the fact that by a LARGE margin fast food makes more money. But like you said, just because cars are here, it didn't eradicate the horses. I truly believe that even if A.I. were to take our "jobs" today it wouldn't really stop us from trying would it? Hell, big companies that have been using and abusing their employees are already seeing more competition by way of the masses thanks to things like crowdfunding and ambitious individuals, and if A.I. becomes more ethical to use and is publicly available to help the individual on their own projects, then you don't really need big corporations like Disney to produce all your entertainment on the backs of overworked employees do you? They would have to potentially up their game to stay relevant (which is the beauty of competition when it's working correctly). I had also been wracking my brain trying to think why someone would buy my work over a pure A.I. and I came up with a similar conclusion that you made in the video - that being someone buys my work because they know that there is a face behind it to give it that personal touch and/or that particular work just speaks to them. And even if they didn't, I would still draw and create because it is immensely satisfying and fulfilling for me to do so. Do I hope that A.I. will not take away my ability to earn a living on my own artwork independently? Yes absolutely. But I think that there's more hope here than people realize. A.i. is better at chess than the best chess player in the world. But the man still plays the game every damn day because it's what he enjoys doing and it's immensely more satisfying seeing him win over seeing a virtually perfect series of commands win.
