Surveillance capitalism? Jeez Louise, talk about stretching it. Not sure how data-gathering actions by BIg Tech translates to "surveillance capitalism"? It's like saying professors with nutty manifestos represent education or researchers who fudge results represent science or Cuomo's actions represent what all governors do. But it is a catchy phrase and it sells. There have been REAL surveillance regimes. We were in the USSR the last days and even then the KGB had almost 300,000 listening to telephone calls! Mail was opened, conversations always took place near a blaring radio or tv, subways and buses buggest, travel not permitted outside your city "district". Now THAT'S surveillance.
