When Mr. Autor says "Well if we throw democracy out than..." Yes... That is literally what all the AI advocates and magnates are pushing for. They want to create "benevolent" dictatorship where the intellectual elite control the plebian masses with AI. Just look at DOGE where they used AI to dismantle every institution of the U.S. government with no oversight or pushback for breaking every kind of rule of law or decorum. THAT IS THE WORLD THEY WANT!
