I hate Elon but I do think there is a price to pay for progress. Eventually driverless will be a way to prevent almost any accident once things have been perfected. But it is really difficult to get there if you’re going to brutally punish the car company every time they have a fatal accident. Yes there will be fatalities on the way there but I think it’ll be so worth it in the long run. No more drunk driving accidents. No more accidents due to poor visual conditions. No more accidents due to old age. No more accidents due to carelessness. As much as I hate Elon I don’t think it would be right to stunt progress. And even if we do, China won’t, so it’ll just be them getting ahead of us. What should happen is Elon should be made to divest and totally remove himself from these companies.
