The reason this cannot happen is because of supply and demand. if no humans are not earning money, humans cannot buy goods and services offered by AI. The value of AI becomes greatly deflated, because AI does not own or spend money, and as we all know the less economic pie people can buy, the less there is!
But yes, there will be a horrible period of transition much like the great depression, in the near future.
