If Robert Oppenheimer, and other brilliant physicists of that time, never allowed ethics to get in the way of competing with each other as to who can create the ultimate instrument of death - a nuclear bomb - I doubt the tech bros of today will stop to ponder and restrain the development of AI. From hearing many of these tech oligarchs speak, they don't even have the wisdom, breath of knowledge, nor self-reflective disposition of the intellectuals of the past.
