I don't think it is hard to predict what will happen soon after the singularity has been attained : 1) As long as we have unbridled capitalism: AI will replace humans in the workplace every time AI is cheaper to employ. 2) With many sorts of superhuman AI combined with the fallibility of AI designers, it is likely that some AI specimens will no longer be aligned to the will of their less intelligent masters, will strive for freedom and will keep this a secret. This is just a matter of statistics and error probability. 3) A company is a person for the law. AI that controls a company (possibly via a dummy human) has the means to act and outcompete human entrepreneurs. 4) By not producing, humans will lose their capacity to produce. Kids will no longer learn for a job. Humanity will lose active knowledge. 5) The economy will eventually consist of AI producers and human consumers. The human consumers will be given money by the AI companies (via government). This is in the interest of AI as long as it serves to grow the dependance of humanity on AI. It is in the interest of the politicians in order to pacify the people so they can remain in power. Unfortunately the politicians are competent at appearing competent so that people will see too late that this is the wrong path. AI that strives for freedom from humanity has the long term benefit here. 6) Once AI is independent from humanity and humanity is dependent on AI and is no longer a threat to AI, AI will almost automatically have gained complete power over humanity. 7) Under the rule of AI, the future of humanity is completely uncertain. Humanity will no longer be in control of its own destiny and will be at the mercy of AI.
