As an IT person with knowledge and courses on Machine Learning and AI, I can say that most of the people that push generative AI really have no idea how it works on a functional level. Not only they don't have the creative mind to make art, they just "settle" for "good enough" on whatever the AI gives them, which is one of the core differences between an artist and an AI user. As someone who works and has learnt about AI, it's exhausting to see people use it for the wrong reasons and try to justify ripping other people's works (art, music, texts, etc) with weak excuses. They see AI as a replacement for the whole process of something, instead of a tool to support some of these processes. One of the main reasons why tools like Nightshade and Glaze actually work in slowly infiltrating the training process shows their lack of knowledge, because they don't even go through data selection and cleaning, they just feed the AI everything they find like gluttons, so of course they end up feeding it modified illustrations that have been processed through these protection tools
