So the 15-year-old had a “minor run-in with police” but he wasn't a criminal? Committing crimes makes you by definition a criminal. Why is a 15yr-old having “run-ins” with police? So they found a baggy with marijuana residue? My guess that his “run-in” has to do with marijuana. Does his father have no problem with his 15-year-old smoking weed in the house? Great father figure. Sounds like the algorithm works. He's growing up to be a criminal.
The lady just carefully opened her screen door and was charged with battery on an officer? Sounds more like she intentionally hit the officer with the screen door. That means she's guilty as charged! Hit a cop, go to jail. Yeah, it's a felony. Duh.
The guy who committed the various code violations was also not denying the charges and then both didn't pay the fines or even go to court. So he's also guilty of the charges. Code violations are “just” infractions. Infractions are still crimes. Speeding tickets, for example, are also infractions, but they are crimes too. If you don't pay them and you don't go to court, you get a bench warrant. Not harrassment. Just regular procedure. They may be petty, but they still have consequences.
This guy's excuse that the police didn't tell him when his court date was? He didn't get a letter? The police didn't tell him what his court day was, so it's the police department’s fault? He couldn't call the courthouse? He couldn't take responsibility for something that affects him?
None of these cases are even suspect. The people on this program downplay what these people did and blame the cops because they want to get money.
If these “victims of harassment” didn't commit crimes, then the cops wouldn't have had any reason to charge them with anything, would they?
Typical defense lawyers always shift the blame. Having a chicken in the city is a crime. Tiny infraction says the Latino (presumably) but a huge annoyance for their neighbors for sure. Especially if it's a rooster. Do what you want on your country farm, keep your ghetto stuff out of our suburbs!
Look at these bleeding heart libs trying to find reasons to make money over nothing. As if these lawyers don't have any reason to take these cases. They claim to represent their clients for free. We all know they are going to get a slice of the settlement. Don't be naive. 30-40% of civil settlements go to these lawyers.
