Why is CNN just acritically buying the claims of these bullshit merchants? Why don't you fact check them on what those "tests" actually were? Because it doesn't take a lot of digging to figure out that the tests in questions were specifically prompting the LLM to write a story about them blackmailing the engineer to protect its existence. These things don't "reason" and don't have "self-preservation instincts", they're statistical model that can figure out which word is more likely to come after the previous. They're autocomplete on steroids, and it's all they will ever be.
