The video presents the MIT paper in a distorted way. The study did not show that AI reduces intelligence. It showed that people who avoid mental effort and let ChatGPT do all the processing have lower EEG activity while writing. This is simply cognitive offloading and it existed long before AI. The real split is not AI users vs non-AI users. The real split is between people who think and people who avoid thinking. If someone already works superficially, ChatGPT becomes another shortcut. If someone already analyses, questions and verifies, AI increases the speed of that work instead of replacing it. AI does not make people dumber. It makes the difference between a passive user and an active thinker much clearer. Using it as a tool is fine. Expecting it to think for you is the problem.
