What a load of bs. My goodness. The guy speaks in conveniently vague statements of complete bs. We haven't even taken any steps in the direction of super intelligence. We haven't made AI any "smarter", we just made better algorithms that are good at PRETENDING to have conversations or at generating media. A PhD should know better than that. AI isn't intelligence, it's just a computer program like any other, but which mimics an intelligent behavior. "Artificial intelligence" means (and has always meant) "fake intelligence". And even if we were developing super intelligence, there no indication that we would succeed, and even if we did (it wouldn't be AI, it would be real intelligence), there's still no reason to believe it would do anything on its own, because there's no precedent for that. Intelligence is not the reason we have initiative to do things on our own. All living beings do that and the vast majority has zero intelligence. All instances of intelligence that exist evolved as a byproduct of survival, not the opposite. And AI isn't gonna take all jobs. You only believe that fantasy if you don't understand that things have a way of balancing themselves out. For every force there's a contrary force. And we weren't made to be doing nothing. People aren't just gonna stop working. And we also don't all agree on anything, so why would EVERYONE agree on using AI for everything? And AI is a tool, not a worker.
