I come from opisite side of the isle, I very much like building machines and I like ai and it's potential, I am not a artist people keep calling my work art with my sculptures and contraptions but they are nothing more then toys. So introductions out of the way, I understand wanting to protect your art, it's just trying to find a propper way about it. With the copyright of the music industry I don't think you or artists in general want that system, ask any music artist that makes and sells music they will tell you how the industry screws them over and people who want to play that music in any way that isn't private they get screwed over as well, and the only people who really win are the people who own the rights to the music. Wanting that system I think falls into a deal with the devil situation. Ai as it is as you noted can't simply remove the parts of it, so to achieve the desired result all the infrastructure not only needs to be torn down but also not using the main methods of construction as before resulting in a worse construct that is far behind what is existent now, which for the other and more common/important uses for ai is not good... I think this is where the hostility spawns from on the ai maker/common user comes from (also multiplied by people demanding that ai be eradicated using art as their main argument) Also the main group of agitators in the ai "art" industry i have seen are the people you spoke of being frowned on, the people that simply stole others work and did other shady things used ai as their sheild and weapon. I think ai has a use to properly communicate the more mechanical minded and the creative minded by allowing recreation and augmentation of pictures to give a reference, or if you are a single individual with a large load of work producing pictures using ai trained on yourself to fill in and bear a weight on your bahlf. I think having private data sets made specifically to mimic a/group of artist(s) by offering the them a % of the income from that data set making it so there is product for the company and passive income for the artist, and pushing companies to do this I think would be very good for everyone involved.
