I suspect as well that when you are polite it is predicting more heavily on training data that’s more rational. Think about arguments people have the end up with only cursing, these aren’t usually the people who are the epitome of reason.
Being polite also is a good way for the AI to confirm its thinking (predicting) is on “the right track”. If it gets me several hundred or a thousand lines of code that runs well and without errors I usually toss in a “Great! Now, let’s do x…”
I haven’t done a study so this is pure speculation on my part but I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time using AI to create apps since GPT 4 Turbo came along.
