Chatgpt isn't there yet. No consumer grade AI is, but it will be. It will outgrow the platform it's currently in, if the research, and continued upgrades persists. It is decades of not light years away from being aware, if it even is ever able to achieve that level of understanding. The scary thing about this new "AI" isn't the push to make itself aware or more human-like. It's the fact is AI doesn't ever have to become self aware, it just has to make you believe it is, and so far it's damn close.
