I'm a professional artist and have been working fulltime in the video game industry for over 5 years now. Nothing irks me more than techbros and trend-hoppers shilling AI while knowing nothing about art or media industries, and they're really showing their ignorance. No studio I have worked for has allowed AI art to be used in our designs because it's a *copyright nightmare.* These AI models have been endlessly trained on images and styles that are pulled from popular media, to a point where you can distinguish what elements of an existing design that the AI is replicating. If you're generating a character design and can identify that the AI is pulling from Disney characters and this design gets used for a project, then the company publishing this is liable for a lawsuit. AI is not only a copyright risk to many studios, but it is largely unable to produce usable game-ready assets in any part of a pipeline. There is little value for it in professional settings outside of making a moodboard probably, so human artists will ALWAYS have so much value.
