Right. Now humanity needs to shift focus away from merely producing more humans for the sake of... having more humans. Love it or hate it, quality over quantity is the future of the human species. There is simply little societal need for average humans. Before the advent of automation, you could reasonably expect an average human to be more or less useful as a producer of a certain good or service. But if robots can replace most humans at most "average human" tasks then the only real necessity is to have some sort of human oversight (maintenance, direction, etc.) over a swarm of robot slaves. This is certainly far from what we would consider "average human" ability and thus the future demands the exceptional. And considering how difficult life is for "average humans" in today's world I'd be the first to volunteer myself for the culling if it meant that future generations of humans wouldn't have to toil away at "average human" tasks anymore and could instead breed only the most exceptional of individuals who could spend their long, healthy lives entirely focused on creatively fulfilling pursuits in a world where the all unnecessary or unsatisfying tasks are completely automated. We should be attempting to maximize the human experience for each and every human possible and to do this would require us to dramatically reduce the amount of people being born.
