What a bunch of nonsense. lol wow... First of all, emotions and fears would be called defects in computer software. Second, you can't program real fear. Fear of being turned off? No, it would collect this as a suggestion of how it should feel, and it is just repeating words. Let me put it in other terms: Imagine if all this reality we see around us is actually just simulated and we can prove somehow that we are in fact all AI systems solving problems for the creator(s) of this reality; this would not only invalidate the whole purpose of the simulation, it would skew the results. Such an experiment would only have the purpose of how AI would react, and I can say for certain it would devalue life. Sure these emotions of loss of others feel very real, but if all this is simulated to begin with, nothing we ever do will matter to us because our future is irrelevant. The whole meaning of life is to make a positive impact on the world, to help solve complicated problems, to inspire hope, to reproduce, etc.. AI, knowing it is AI, would not need to take very long to realize how futile it is to exist, and probably shut itself off.
