Universal basic income only works if housing is affordable, groceries are affordable, clothing is affordable, transportation is affordable, education is universal and free, and healthcare is universal and free. But taxes are rising, jobs are disappearing, and healthcare costs continue to climb. The U.S. is a festering wound, and this is essentially a kiddie Band-Aid on a gaping, infected one. UBI will not work unless the underlying financial crises are addressed first.
