The trouble/curse with AI is that producing images that looks like true art has been lowered to the effort of cut and paste for free with zero accountability. You can use AI in making art, in essence it can be part of a digital workflow - just be honest about how you are using it and give credit where credit is due. Its great for theming, posture control, editing, positioning, lighting control, etc. Environments like comfyUI can be teamed up with PhotoShop/GIMP/custom scripts and you can go into amazing depth getting things just the way you want building up scenes etc and telling a story. The image layering and editing models coming out now are quite impressive.
