The driver didnt pay any attention but the problem with the "Autopilot" is that is hard to stay attentive when you do nothing on your own.
Just staring at the traffic while doing nothing guarantees a lack of attention.
And that is the reason why autopilot is bullshit as long as it is not fully reliable.
And I go further and say that this accident ist Teslas fault too. Many cars today have systems that detect your eye motion and warn you if you fall asleep. You cant tell me that Tesla isnt able to link your eyemotion to the objects the autopilots AI detects and check if you recognize at least some of them to make sure you pay attention.
And thats Teslas responsibility, to build in an alarm that pisses you of so much that you do pay attention, not in favour of the driver but everyone around.
