Omg bro, sure some people can be born with that talent but that doesn’t lock others who lack it. That’s a pretty sad argument even considering I’m more over pro ai art. I mean it’s not like ai was born at all. The art ai produces is quite similar to humans, it wasn’t born with that ability to create, it slowly learned over the analyzing and copying of hundreds of thousands or even millions of art works it’s been trained on. Ik I said I was pro ai art so I’m sure to get some very mean comments or at least some argumentative ones so ig I’ll explain myself ahead of time. “Pick up a pencil” yes I do draw myself, I’ve never actually got ai to create art for commercial use. “Why? It’s terrible!” It’s situational. The kind of ai art most people point out I do disagree with, however that doesn’t mean the entire thing should be shut down, like past inventions, ai art should be cherished and find its own position in the work place, unfortunately for it I see it as a sort of… manual laborer when it comes to this kinda stuff. Then again, that’s what all tools do. If the intention of the poster is just to get fame from the art, that’s obviously scummy and horrid and they should delete their account, kidding! They should take down all of their ai posts and apologize before completely changing their entire online personality. Anyway. If the point of the ai art is quickly get across an ai where the art is not the main focal point but a background piece for some stupid bit that you KNOW no actual artists are going to help you in and given the timeframe you couldn’t possibly draw it yourself then sure, use it. I was on Hoyolab (social media) and there was someone getting flamed for using ai art in their memes. It wasn’t the main point of the art, and it was a stupid meme. They got backlash ofc. The people who were complaining? They used memes with other art not from their own two hands to complain. Essentially what the poster was doing. They directly stole the art and used it in their meme. That’s what the creator was doing, so I fail to see the point. In this situation I wouldn’t complain abt the usage of ai art, I did however find the joke to be boring. Anyways that’s beside the point, my issue with that post was the #fan art. Ai cannot be a fan, but it can make art. Also weird way of thinking but I fail to see how people can disagree with ai art for low quality quick imaging of ideas but still eat fast food. It’s the same, low quality, made by a lot of people’s actions, and it sucks. I prefer home cooked meals and don’t mind an occasional outing. Same with art, I’d prefer if I could do it myself, and I like the established professionals, but ai art? Eh, matter of preference. Like Chick-Fil-A, sure, anywhere else? Probably not. So I like some ai art but not others, there’s this thing people throw around “separating art from the artist” and so when I try to enjoy art that’s what I do. Ik there’s a much larger ethical argument against ai art but again, if the art is the goal, do it yourself, if the art is a stepping stone for an idea you want to encapsulate and not forget before you can do anything to synthesis it, go ahead. I also don’t like the idea of ai art stealing the potential of real artists but I also still don’t like the idea of scrapping ai art entirely.
