There is a term that is not used much anymore to describe a trite saying: "a bromide"
per Google AI (forgive me):
"a trite, overused saying meant to be soothing but actually boring, or a boring person who uses such phrases. The figurative meaning comes from potassium bromide, a drug once used as a sedative, which dulled senses just as a cliché dulls thought."
I had never thought to look into the origins of this term until now.
