The mystification and deification of art is a systemic problem. It's not something that has only manifested recently, nor is it a consequence of tech evolution. We, as a society, tend to both devalue and enhance the importance of art as a whole—a typical parent wouldn't want their child to be a painter, but they have paintings hung in their walls; the same parent wouldn't want their child to be an actor either, even though they may know how successful some actors can be. Society views art as a privilege: only the mighty may make it, and only the rich can appreciate it. When Pro-AI people argue in favor of AI illustrations (they aren't art and I refuse to call them art, even for the sake of the analogy), they tend to view it as a “democratization” of this quasi-divine ability only a privileged few can attain. And they aren't wrong per se, at least not in terms of individual biases. The devaluation of art is a vice of society that has been living within our communities as a cancerous growth. And no matter how much you encourage someone to try at art and fail at art, and enjoy failing at expressing their feelings through art, you won't change their mentality simply because it's not theirs—they got it from their parents, their grandparents, their peers, their teachers; this fatalist mindset is inherited from the masses as a whole.
