"You can just prompt for these changes" No, you can't. If you change your prompt it will generate an entirely new image. You can combine it with inpainting, but even then it often doesn't understand what you want it to do if you're, say, trying to have it redraw a hand with the correct number of fingers. Or if you want the fingers in a particular position. The best way to get these fine detail changes done is to manually edit the input image or - better yet - extract the linework map and edit the lines directly using your own artistic skill and knowledge. You can't prompt an AI to put a particular pattern on fabric - it'll create something generic and generally bad even if you do this with inpainting. Again, your best bet is to use controlnet softedge, extract the softedge map, and manually draw in the patterning you want. All of these minute, particular changes require actual skill and knowledge of both art and technology to make. Not only that; not all models are trained on scraped images. The model I use is trained on my own art and mixed with art by other artists that have explicitly given consent to their work being used for AI training. And to add to this; I still practice drawing traditionally - with pen and paper - every single day, because the workflow I use relies almost entirely on my own skill to come out the way I want it to. I can't correct anatomical errors if I don't know anatomy. I can't edit lighting if I don't understand light and shadow. I still have to learn color theory, basic shapes, proportion, perspective, etc. AI is a tool. Generative AI using only prompts with no other input? Slop, absolutely. Not actual art. But saying ANY usage of AI by an artist completely devalues the work they put in using their own skill is reductive, wrong, and an insult to artists of the past who learned to use new tools that made their work easier. Edit: Also Shad sucks and he does the absolute minimum in his video to try and justify his primarily prompt-based generations. I'm not defending him in the least.
