I have been in IT since 1995. From my experience, IT workers have been under attack from business since 2000. Instead of appreciating the work and effort, work was pushed to 3rd world countries. Our job became cleaning up that mess in the early 2000s. (These countries are much better these days.) I wonder what AI will do to overseas work. I can see offshoring disappearing fast with AI.
