South Park's authors pretty much delivered the same message in one of their episodes: the plumbers, the electricians, the handymen are and will be well off, because AI has no arms and it will take a long time before affordable machines that can do that kind of work hit the market. It makes sense. What doesn't make sense to me is people losing their sense of purpose when they no longer have a _job_ that earns them money. You can be _very_ useful to mankind even without turning a profit from it: volunteer, teach, perform, produce art of any kind, grow a garden, those are only a few examples of things people can do to give their life purpose. AI can have a lot of negative impacts on society as we know it, but the _job_ defining the person's identity and self worth is an evil AI is simply forcing us to confront. We can't blame AI for it.
