Why? Because what is missing in the data bank and hence AI training. Missing? True depth perception and image sample deprivation - because of each orientation of any stalled or crashed vehicle, 2D shape are UNIQUE that cannot be manufactured BEFORE the crash actually took place. First person crash avoidance requires real time DEPTH data out of RF or LED radar, that a camera missed. That also justify for radar system to be a part of the collision avoidance system in any self drive product. The system provider was either ignorant or willfully ignorant in ruling out the vehicle radar in their product. Just revise the hardware to include a forward looking radar and revised the self drive software to emergency respond to any collision avoidance signal, plus code in a situation awareness to steer away or take a least collateral damage path. AI based self drive software is much appreciated however only fall short to human’s collision avoidance instincts. Who wants to give up theirs and family’s life for the convenience of unsafe self driving product?
