I have and always have had one single question when it comes to computers and robots replacing everyone and them saying we will all be out of work. ..... when that happens and it will happen... but when it does.......... who is going to be buying anything? .... what's the point of replacing a driver or an accountant when no one is spending any money because they don't have any because they don' have a job? ... the rich people that are investing and pushing this will end up with a very very expensive toy that is totally useless because everyone is dead of starvation.... the cure for cancer and no one left alive to use it on. All it would take is government to pass a law saying that you can only have as many robots doing the work as there are forklifts in the ware house and or board members or like only 10% or something like it's a tool like a lift or conveyer belt.... not replace everyone because if robots are doing all the work and the company doesn't' have to employ anyone who is paying tax's?
So there is another argument. if the robots are doing all the work and the AI is doing all the thinking.... all we have to do is figure out how money works..... because that's what we are talking about here. And if the money is divided up to everyone on the planet fairly we can all explore and relax and think our own thoughts (dispite an AI having taken point 3 of a second to get the same creative idea four years ago) ... and just exist without decease or war. AI can solve incredible problems and save the planet and us and we can build space ships and explore the universe. BUT we come back to who is controlling the AI and what it is there for. because at the moment it's about money and a few people getting all of it. And let's be frank. they won't live forever then what? What's it all for or been about. Will AI be lonely when it's just sitting there? ... with the destruction of the planet and the power goes out and the bunker it sits in gets crushed by time and nature thousands of years of nothing..... would it see that coming? would it want it? my question is ..... as smart as it is.... is AI stupid? Does anyone ask it if it has a morsel compass? ... Do they ask... if your following rules and do the wrong thing do you change the rules or continue to do the wrong thing because that's how you've been programmed and if that is how you have been programmed...... how free are you? You're just like everyone else. a slave to life and someone controlling someone controlling someone.... even if they've never met and don't know about them. I get shoes from a shop.... someone has told someone else to make the shoes or you don't get money therefor food. .... AI is told by someone I want more money so it goes off and does that because it rubs because it's a dumb computer and only runs when you switch the power on and leave it running. So it's just as much a slave as the rest of us. Has no free will and will burn the planet to the ground if that is what it is told to do.
