AI is replacing jobs but that is just because managers do not understand the technology. AI as it is is going to be good to replace jobs that require average skill, but that is going to be just for a while. The reason is that as companies and regular people start dumping AI generated text into the world it will be ingested back into the AI training, and this will reduce the quality of the future generated data by the AI eventually rendering it useless and forcing companies to make regressions to their AI models, going back to ChatGPT 3.0. This is why google translator who has been using AI still sucks after more than a decade of existence. Highgly skilled jobs are difficult to replace, specially for AI, because in order for a Large Language Model to improve, it requires massive amounts of data, and that comes from lower skill jobs, the data generated from highly skilled jobs is comparatively less than 1%, so the large amount of lower skill jobs will overshadow completely and bias the model to lower and lower and lower capacity for the AI. So companies relying on AI will have to hire the same people with skills and expertise they fired, just to keep track and guide the AI properly. I know this because I'm a computer engineer, I went to college to study comsci and I've been working in the software industry for the last 20 years and I've seen the same job market decline on coding jobs and even with all my years of experience has been hard to find a new job. So trust me, AI hype is going to be gone in a couple of years, I know it has been difficult and it will be for the next 2 years, but don't despair, train harder, improve your skills, and that is how you will make harder for AI to replace you.
