There’s a few things a driverless truck can’t do by itself: connect/disconnect lines (unless they’re working with the big 4 trailer manufacturers to redesign the coupling section), can’t fuel or recharge itself, can’t install it’s snow chains, can’t strap and tarp their load, can’t drive through ATL at 8am (lol), etc. I’ve seen a port driverless switcher backup to a coupling redesigned dolly, but how much does that cost for large fleets? I can see I-10, I-40 & 20 lanes being filled by these robots, but nowhere else during the Winter.
