AI isn’t new and has been around for over 60 years. This isn’t even the first hype bubble, there has been 2 previous ones.
AI isn’t really AI. It is just a very large set of algorithms and techniques. They are not intelligent and calling it what it is doing wouldn’t generate the buzz they got. Without that buzz, they wouldn’t have gotten the investment.
Most jobs could be automated with programs and robots. It takes significant amount of investment and changes to get this stuff to work. It is either cheaper to get people to do it or it needs a human touch. There is not enough talent engineers who can do the automation. The hilarious one in this video is scheduling. Computers can do this far better than any human can but it is a difficult thing to program and get the constraints right.
