Art is a way of communicating with the artist's soul in a way, their art is an expression of something you can't convey by just speaking alone, that's what makes it art to me and bot images are not art to me no matter if they look pretty on a glance. These people never understood art in the first place nor cared about it so they can't get it. They compare it to progress and automation. The problem is that the jobs that were made efficient were jobs that were essentially labor mostly for survival and to automate or help with daily chores or to get daily necessities. Art and entertainment is subjective so the entire necessity falls out of the window especially when people watch something animated if they would rather watch something carefully and deliberately human-made than quickly ai-made that is equally valid. With food you could argue having more food more quickly and more efficient without less work is better as with many industries that produce things, but you can't say the same about artistic entertainment. It's the entire reason people like handmade stuff even though there's plenty of quicker ways to make things or they value a child's drawings or even carefully handwritten letters over mails or text messages, because the value associated with a handmade product is mental and subjective in many ways and cannot be simply quantified by the efficiency of the output. In that sense there is also no necessity to automate a bunch of entertainment and artistic jobs with AI because having more entertainment more quickly does not make it automatically better for everyone. Quicker and more effective productions are the entire reason why things have usually been automated and why progress has been deemed necessary and good, but I do not see the same necessity with AI in most cases, quite the opposite. In fact automating too much would make entertainement probably more bland, the entire reason people often call it "AI-slop" after all, because there's so much of it and people attribute less value to it. Physical products being less valuable was also a result of automatization and technology advancement, but that is a good thing as everyone could afford food and clothings more easily now and all that stuff, but reducing the effort (and value) of entertainment is a negative for many people, especially because there is already enough (human-made) entertainment and art to sift through for entire lifetimes.
