I think something a lot of people aren't considering is that the top 10% of artists are still significantly better than AI, but it's making it so much harder for people to get into it in the first place. Imagine how demoralizing it'd be to draw something, spending hours and hours on it, just for somebody else to type in a prompt and get something objectively higher quality. I'm not saying AI is great or anything, but this is really hurting artists who are new or not as skilled.
Of course AI is gunna look like crap when you put it next to legendary artists like Miyazaki, but when you compare it to Tony, who draws and posts his stuff online after finishing his shift at his 9 to 5, it's significantly better than what he can do. Tony gets disheartened and gives up, and never becomes one of those great artists.
