I'm an indie gamedev with conflicting thoughts on Machine Learning. I'm both an artist, someone who hires artists, and a mathematician. Apologies for the long comment. Firstly, as a Mathematician, ML is fascinating. We're tricked machines into thinking through nothing but linear algebra, calculus, and a lot of brute force and disgusting amounts of data. I don't like that only big corporations are able to make best use of ML, since only they would have access to lots of brute force and disgusting amounts of data... Well them and anyone with no ethics about respecting the sources of their data. They don't think the way we do, but they for all intents and purposes think. I'd be nice to them just in case. Now I agree with most things in this video. It really, really sucks the way they steal from those they threaten the livelihoods of. As an indie dev I plan to hire anytime I'm able to, for the stuff I can't make myself. But, I'm also someone who is not a native English speaker. I think the jobs of translators and localizers are valuable, and they should be able to have a livelihood. But I also think a world where anyone could play any game in their own language would not be such a bad world, and this would only be possible through ML. The only thing I disagree with this video is that I think graphical art generated by ML can have artistic value, though I don't think your stance is wrong. This is because I personally can find artistic value in things not created by human craft, such as in nature, or in mathematics (many fractals are beautiful, and they're basically just equations). I think art generated by ML can have artistic value, though I personally prefer the weird fever dreams produced through ML, as I think those can give us an insight into the alien thoughts of creatures who think in a way very different from ours.
