UBI is just a selling point for the general population to be more accepting. As with many economic decisions, there are so many unforeseens. AI will may solve the productivity problem within western economies, but will it solve the problem globally?
We see more countries in the orbit of China/Russia led BRICS who have competing AI, and much lower cost of infrastructure which AI depends on.
AI will not solve the western competitive issue. It will definitely make western societies worse. UBI will simply not cushion the destruction that will ensue.
